The catchphrase "cowabunga" is originally popularized by an NBC program entitled The Howdy Doody Show. It was reintroduced in Peanuts when Snoopy used the word while surfing. From then on, cowabunga is used by surfers. Skateboarders only used them when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Bart Simpson (The Simpsons) used the word while skateboarding.
