I was really awed by the number of hits in my blog when I first posted the steps on how to grab or download songs from IMEEM. I know the steps I posted before are a bit outdated because it requires the user to download specific softwares into their computers. Which means, it is riskier. Therefore, the steps make it hard for the regular user especially if his computer is firewalled or has restrictive administrative rights. Therefore, the steps only benefit users from their personal computers. Therefore, the steps are for personal satisfaction only.
But I admit, there are more Internet users who are at offices, schools and other establishments apart from home who wanted to have a piece of art called music. As a firm believer of free art, in this digital age, I feel most fulfilled if I have shared some of the mp3 music via email to friends who requests them. But I don't do piracy. As mentioned before, I believe in free art, therefore, I share music without the purpose of money-making. I only share music to people whom I know would love to have music in their personal gadgets. Many friends have emailed me for mp3 requests and I have been also like that to them. I believe there are really many people who believe in free art. That may be the reason why multimedia websites IMEEM and Youtube have been created. These sites encourage people to share their media to the world by offering free online streaming. That's why I love these sites.
Now, I guess, I now have to share this bit of information (which may also be known to some and may not be for many) that there is really a way to grab or download songs (or multimedia files, in general) without having to take the risk of downloading software from a third party site and without experiencing the hassle of restrictive firewalls and administrative rights. But before we do the process, let me explain to you what really happens in the process. First, multimedia sites run their files from their server and uploads packets of the multimedia file in a temporary internet folder (in your PC or in the Internet) after you pick a file - this is called online streaming. Second, while streaming takes place, you must download the file into a directory of your choice in the PC. It is stored as a .flv file. Third, convert the downloaded .flv file to .mp3. And that's the concept of the whole process.
There are actually 2 new ways to download songs from IMEEM and Youtube. Here they are:
A. Online Grabbing and flv Converter Software Combination - use this way when you already have an flv converter installed in your PC. (Recommended for IMEEM)
1. Since you have an installed flv converter (I strongly recommend, Freez flv to mp3 converter), go to imeem.com and search your choice of song. No need to log in or create an account. Remember to search only for the song and not the playlist.
2. Copy the link in the address bar.
3. Go to File2HD.com and paste the link of the song you'd like to grab.
4. After downloading, convert your .flv to .mp3 using your flv converter.
5. Just rename the file after conversion. You now have your mp3 file!
Basically, this is just like the first grabbing method I posted before only without the use of a file grabber installed in your system. Now, sometimes there are music videos you'd like to have as mp3. Here is how you do it...
1. Go to Youtube.com (or any video streaming site) where your music video is located.
2. Copy the link in the address bar.
3. Got to Vixy.net and paste the link of the video you'd like to convert. Vixy.net doesn't have to download the video. It converts directly the flv file to mp3.
4. Download your mp3 file after conversion.
5. Smile! You now have your mp3 file directly from a music video.
